The Peace Palace of the Carnegie Foundation receives about 30,000 visitors from all over the world every year. These visitors range from tourists to international judges, and they even regularly receive heads of state. It is therefore very important to know who you are letting into the building. This was one of the main reasons for equipping the Peace Palace with ID-Visitor from ORIBI ID-Solutions as of June 2009.
"We are extremely satisfied with ID-Visitor and it fully meets our expectations," says Koos Kruizinga, head of security at the Peace Palace. "We deal with visitors from countries all around the world and therefore with identity documents from all over the world. It's impossible to know what all these documents look like and what to look for. Last summer, we hosted 300 students from 86 countries. By using ID-Visitor, we were able to check all their documents and knew for sure that we were granting access to the right students."
Attention for the scanning solution
The Peace Palace has had no complaints about the new advanced solution. "We have already had several visits from agencies interested in what they referred to as the scanning solution. Of course, we are happy to let them watch because we are proud of our ID-Visitor solution. And we are not at all secretive about it, as our visitors are informed in detail beforehand by means of counter signs and window stickers."
The Peace Palace in The Hague
The Peace Palace in The Hague is home to renowned international judicial institutions such as the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, as well as the prestigious Peace Palace Library and the Hague Academy of International Law, where hundreds of law students from all over the world attend courses every year. The Palace, the surrounding grounds and the Library belong to the Carnegie Foundation. This foundation promotes the organisation of seminars and other initiatives that promote the ideal of peace and is a member of the international philanthropic network of Carnegie institutions.
